In the analytical department at the research center of Robert Bosch GmbH the techniques of thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry and mass spectrometry are used combined in a unique methode to provide quantitative an qualitative analysis of polymers and ceramics. One experiment allows to get informations about ammounts of for example additives, fillers and other inorganics, exothermal respectively endothermal effects and outgassing products.

In the field of polymeric materials the coupling system is used to get data about composition, thermal stability and decomposition products.

For ceramic materials the technic is employed for the characterization of educts, mixtures and sintered processes.

The results of some applications will be presented and discussed.
